Idle Painter Guide: Cheats & Tips to Unlock All Artworks

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

I’ve played my fair share of idle games in the past, but never was an idle painting game like the recently launched Idle Painter for mobile. And, for some strange reason, I consider it to be a really, really good game that I enjoy a lot.

And today I am here to help you get the most out of this game by sharing a bunch of Idle Painter cheats and tips in our complete strategy guide. I know, there’s not really a lot of strategy involved here – as you will see for yourself – but there are still some very important things to consider, and we’ll cover them all today.

So let’s not waste a single second and instead let’s check out below our Idle Painter guide: tips and tricks to unlock all artworks quickly.

In what order to purchase upgrades
There are just 5 types of upgrades you can spend your hard-earned cash on and there are no levels or such: just constant increases in their effectiveness.

But how to spend your money in order to better optimize everything? Well, my recommendation is to focus initially on the Earnings upgrade: you need more money generated ASAP in order to be able to afford even more upgrades. So invest in this one before others.

Also, when you first start playing the game, you should completely ignore spending even a dollar on the Offline Bonus upgrade: you only need to invest money in this before you stop playing, so ignore it until then.

After the earnings upgrade, it’s difficult to say which one is more important. I would go for the Pens and Pen Speed personally since they seem to get the job done faster… but also you should keep an eye on prices. If one of the upgrades starts costing double (or more than double) than any other available, you should invest in the lower cost ones first.

Tap the Speed Button!
There is a Speed X2 button in the lower right corner of the display and it does exactly what it says if you tap it: it speeds up the painting and earnings for you.

Therefore, you should tap it as often as possible, as it will help you cruise through the artworks like nobody else. It’s even better if you’re playing Idle Painter on a tablet: the larger screen allows you to tap with two fingers, for even faster completion of the paintings.

Complete the daily missions
Each day, you will receive a set of missions which will reward you with premium currency. Make sure to complete these daily, as you will need a lot of this premium currency to unlock additional packs of art as you progress through the game.

Keep your device running to keep painting
The biggest problem with the game, in my opinion, is that the pens stop working when you leave the game. This means that unless you keep the game running on your phone, you won’t see any progress with the artwork there.

You do get money when you are offline and you can resume from where you were left off when you log back in, but if you really want to unlock as many arts as possible, you will have to keep the game running (and probably your device plugged in).

Also make sure not to hit the back button while painting! You will lose all progress and you’ll have to start over. So do things methodically, one at a time.

Not able to unlock the ad-only arts?
I have a really strange and annoying problem: I can’t unlock the artworks that require me to watch an ad to do so. Whenever I tap those images, nothing happens.

I have tried everything I could think of: from force quitting the game and restarting, to restarting my WiFi and even restarting my device… nothing worked for some strange reason.

This might be because there are no ads in your area or it might be a bug. Until then, if you love the game so much that you don’t mind spending a bit of money on it, you could purchase the IAP that removes ads. This way, you will be able to easily unlock all artworks without a problem.

Make each artwork your own
Don’t forget about this little trick that you have at the tip of your finger once a piece of art is completed: you can simply swipe over the artwork itself and change it colors. This way, you can really make it your own and fully enjoy it whenever you look at the pieces of art you have created.

And if you forgot to do this with one or more paintings – worry not. Simply tap on any completed artwork in the game and you can change its colors to match your taste.

These would be our tips and tricks for fellow Idle Painter players. As you can see – and as I’ve told you already in the intro, there’s not a lot of strategy involved here. This is a relaxing game featuring beautiful art and a speed as fast as you want it to be.

But with so many pieces of art to unlock, we can only hope that you found our advice useful. And if you have some additional tips and tricks to share with the world, don’t hesitate to do so by commenting below.
