How to Use the Grappling Hook in Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is all about conquering other kingdoms to unify China under a single ruler, and so you will be taking part in a lot of battles where you will have to destroy enemy fortifications and occupy castles.

To do so effectively, you have a very nice tool at your disposal: the Grappling Hook. Here’s how to use it.

How to Use the Grappling Hook in Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires’ battles are divided into Offensive, or Invasion, Battles and Defensive Battles. The Grappling Hook can be used in both, but it’s way more important in Offensive Battles, as it can be used to scale walls effectively.

Before you can use the Grappling Hook, however, you will have to unlock it first by conquering all lookout bases placed on a castle wall. They are the squares on the walls of any castle that can be seen on the map. To have better chances of conquering these, you will have to conquer Catapult Bases close to a castle wall, as once you do, the Catapults will launch attacks against these bases. Once all these lookouts have been conquered, you will be able to use the Grappling Hook by pressing the dedicated button as you get close to heights that can be scaled with it.

The Grappling Hook can also be used to quickly get to the top of Siege Towers. In this case, you will not need to conquer the lookout bases, but only to wait for Siege Towers to get near walls. Once inside the castle, you will be able to open its gates from the inside, and start the final invasion that will let you get head to head with the enemy general.
