Those rocks are looking real smashable today.

Using HM’s have always been a hassle in the Pokemon mainline games. They were mostly useless in battle and you had to teach them to your Pokemon to actually use them outside of battle, and they couldn’t even be forgotten naturally!

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have, fortunately, revamped the HM system and made it much more convenient for players, a most-welcomed quality-of-life improvement, while also having them now categorized as TMs.

One of these HMs/TMs that you will be frequently using in the overworld is Rock Smash. So if you wanna know how to use Rock Smash in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, then just read on below!

Where to Get Rock Smash in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Rock Smash is obtained pretty early on in the game, and there is little to no way that you are going to miss it.

Before Oreburgh City, when you enter Oreburgh Gate, you should see a Hiker right at the beginning of the passageway. Speak to him and he will give you both, the TM for Rock Smash as well as the Hidden Moves app for your Poketch.

Once, you have the Hidden Moves app and the Rock Smash TM in your possession, the next thing you need to do is beat the first gym leader in Oreburgh City, Roark.

Once you’ve beaten him, Rock Smash will be available for you to use in the overworld. Simply approach any bumpy and jagged-looking rock and press A. Select ‘Yes’ when the game asks you if you want to break the rock.
