Gaining and Transferring Void Energy in Dead By Daylight
Both Survivors and Killers can gain Void Energy and transfer it to Unstable Rifts. The Void Energy is gained in different ways, depending on who is playing:
- Killers gain Void Energy by
- Downing Survivors who are carrying Void Energy
- Hooking Survivors on Esoteric Hooks
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Killers lose Void Energy by
- Being stunned by a Survivor
- Survivors gain Void Energy by
- Repairing Esoteric Generators
- Stunning Killers who are carrying Void Energy
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Survivors lose Void Energy by
- Being downed (or pulled from Generators/out of Lockers/from Pallets)

The Void Energy can be collected until the meter fills to 15 and then the aura of an Unstable Rift will appear nearby. Players must seek out the Unstable Rift before it phases elsewhere, and transfer the energy. They will receive a speed boost for doing so.
If the player does this energy transfer twice, and transfers a total of 30 Void Energy during a trial, they will unlock an exclusive cosmetic or charm. The only catch is that a Survivor must survive the trial to unlock the cosmetic- a Killer only has to collect and transfer the energy (arguably a harder job for the Killer anyhow).
