How to Swarm in Pikmin 4

Curious about how to swarm in the newest Pikmin 4 game? Well, you’re at the right place! Swarming, or Form Line as it’s now called, has been a valuable tactic in Pikmin games. It’s been present since Pikmin and Pikmin 2, and it continues in the latest installment of the series.

The name change makes sense because the Pikmin line up instead of just swarming around the enemy. Without further ado, let’s find out how you can form a line and guide the Pikmin in Pikmin 4.

Pikmin 4 swarm guide: how to line up Pikmin

Unlocking the swarm feature in Pikmin 4 isn’t as easy as many players expected it to be. Some fans were worried about whether the feature was available in the game or not. The good news is that swarm is available in Pikmin 4, but you have to get the Lineup Trumpet by completing the Music of a Past Culture 3 side mission given by Frise to unlock it.

To complete the Music of a Past Culture 3 mission, you have to find 13 Musical Treasures. Once you have discovered all the treasures, the game rewards you with the Lineup Trumpet. With this newly-obtained gear upgrade, you can guide your Pikmin to enemies. Hold ZL + Right Stick to use the Lineup Trumpet for swarming enemies with your army of Pikmin.

If this isn’t working for you, perhaps you don’t have the Lineup Trumpet equipped. You can easily equip this game-changing gear upgrade by going to the Gear and Skills tab in the Tablet Menu. With the Swarm or Form Line ability, you will have an easier time navigating Pikmin in Pikmin 4.
