How to Summon Help in Elden Ring

If you’ve ever played a Souls game in the past before, you might already be familiar with how convoluted it is to play multiplayer. If you haven’t, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with today’s guide. Figuring out how to play multiplayer with randoms or your friends can be confusing for first-time players, so we’ll walk you through the process.

First off, you’ll need to complete the tutorial section of the game, the Stranded Graveyard. As you’re approaching the exit, you’ll pick up a strange item called the Tarnished’s Furled Finger. This item allows you to leave a gold summon sign at your current location, where other players can interact with it to summon you into their world.

If you’d like to summon help yourself, you’ll need to venture further out from the Stranded Graveyard. Head north from The First Step site of grace to reach the Church of Elleh. You’ll find a merchant here that sells the Crafting Kit, which allows you to craft Furlcalling Finger Remedy. The recipe requires two Erdleaf Flowers to craft, which can be commonly found around the world.

Using a Furlcalling Finger Remedy will grant you the ability to see co-op summoning signs. The signs look like golden versions of the normal message signs you see all over the place, so keep an eye out. You’ll most likely see them sitting outside of boss areas, so if you’re having trouble with a particular boss, be sure to look around the area right before. If you die, you’ll need to use another Furlcalling Finger Remedy to see summoning signs again.

Once you’ve summoned in another player, they’ll be with you until you defeat the boss of the current area you’re in. They can do just about anything they could do normally, save for one crucial matter: their Flask of Tears is cut in half, so they’ll need to be a little more careful. If a summoned player dies, they’ll be sent back to their world with no penalty, so you can summon them again if you wish.

Keep in mind that your world changes slightly when you have other players summoned into your world. Some areas will be blocked off by a white wall of fog, and you’ll notice this especially in the overworld.

If you’re trying to play with specific friends, you’ll want to take advantage of the password system. In the multiplayer settings, you can set a multiplayer password. Create a password and share it with your friends, as this will make it so that players using the same password will only be able to see each other’s summoning signs.

In addition to other players, you may come across summoning signs that feature NPCs on them. These NPC signs are usually right before a boss area, but sometimes you find them in other places. Summoning NPCs is a great alternative if you can’t find any player summoning signs.
