How to Stop Other Players From Invading Your Game in Elden Ring on Steam Deck

Elden Ring is an open-world action role-playing developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Just like Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, Sekiro, and the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. The caveat here is that the game was made in collaboration with the award-winning fantasy novelist and source material creator for the highly popular Game of Thrones television show, George R. R. Martin, who provided a lot of source material for the game’s setting.

Elden Ring was released for Microsoft Windows, Steam Deck, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.

The Soulsborne games are known for their difficulty level, and Elden Ring is no exception. The game starts out relatively easy but does not hold players’ hands at any point. One thing that has been retained from the previous Soulsborne games is that of Invasions.

Multiplayer

Elden Ring offers online multiplayer features that allows players to interact with other players. Both Online Co-op and Online PvP are available. The Elden Ring multiplayer supports up to four players in a world. To access the online multiplayer, PS Plus or an Xbox Live Gold subscription is required when playing on PS4/PS5 or an Xbox console.

Since our players are on Steam Deck, these limitations do not exist.

Invasion features

Players need to use special items to start invading other players. Those Multiplayer Items are accessible through the Multiplayer Menu. Some of them are also usable through the quick-use menu. These are all of the items used for PvP Multiplayer:

  • Bloody Finger: Invades another player’s world to defeat them in competitive multiplayer PvP for rewards.
  • Duelist’s Furled Finger: Leaves a red summon sign on the ground that can be seen by other players in their world. It allows them to summon the sign placer for competitive multiplayer.
  • Taunter’s Tongue: Lures in invaders and allows the player’s world to be invaded without any Furled Finger present. Also shortens the interval between windows of opportunity for invasion and allows for a second invader to join in.
  • Small Red Effigy: Sends a competitive sign to the Summoning Pool.

We understand that invasions can be fun, but being invaded might not be for many players. To stop invasions from happening, players can go to the Network settings and change their launch settings to “Play Offline.” This will disable invasions from happening, but also stop the Co-op features from working as a consequence.
