Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest installment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.
The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles, as was the staple of the series thus far.
Being set in the distant past, modern conveniences such as that of a Pokédex did not exist. As such, in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the player is tasked with researching and filling in the world’s first Pokédex!
Ancient Pokédex
Technology in ancient Hisui was not how it is in modern-day Sinnoh and the rest of the modern Pokémon games. The population in Pokémon Legends: Arceus would detail things down in books and scrolls, as were the old ways of record-keeping.
This includes extensive data about Pokémon and their attributes. Since Pokémon were such a mysterious phenomenon to the population of Hisui, not much was known about them. Due to this, the player is entrusted with the task of compiling all possible data about every Pokémon to make the world’s first Pokédex!
To make life easier for the player, there are navigation methods in this older Pokédex which allow for easier access to check the data of various Pokémon.
How to Search the Pokédex
Searching the Pokédex can be done in a few ways:
- Pokémon can be individually searched for
- Setting the order of the Pokédex chronologically
- Setting the order of the Pokédex by number
Once the player navigates their way to the Pokémon they want, all the details that they have gathered so far and the future research requirements will be displayed. Use this information to complete the Pokédex faster and reach your goals!
