How to Save Your Game in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

This is how you save your game in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is such a compelling game that it is easy to get lost in it, and end up playing for longer than expected. Long play sessions, however, come with fatigue, so you will want to be absolutely sure that your game has been saved so as to not lose progress when you turn your console off or if you change games.

How to Save Your Game in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Saving in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is extremely simple, and it can be done at almost any time. There are, however, some situations where it is not possible to save your progress manually.

If you want to save your game manually in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, all you need to do is press the – button and then pick the “Save and end” option. By doing this, you will save your progress but also quit the game in the process. Unfortunately, it is not possible to save your game manually without quitting Animal Crossing: New Horizons as well, so you should be using manual saves only when you are also going to quit the game. Also, do note that it is not possible to save the game and quit if you have friends visiting your island, so you will have to wait for them to leave before you can do so.

Even without manually saving your progress constantly, it is extremely unlikely you will lose progress in Animal Crossing: New Horizons if anything happens. The game comes with an autosave feature that records your progress at set intervals, so you could potentially be playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons for thousands of hours without having to save the game manually even once.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available on Nintendo Switch alongside its major expansion Happy Home Paradise, which added tons of new content and features to the game. The expansion is also available for free if you subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service.
