How to Play Fantastic Beasts in Harry Potter: Puzzles and Spells

Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells is a mobile game developed by Zynga and published by Portkey Games. Announced in March 2020 via a teaser trailer, it was eventually published on September 22, 2020, and is available on Android, iOS, Amazon Kindle, and Facebook. It was made available for pre-registration on August 13, 2020. Upon release, Zynga partnered with singer Zayn Malik to unveil the game.

Gameplay

Puzzles & Spells is a match-3 puzzle game where players go on an advance tour of some familiar locations as they play through the puzzle gameplay. Locations include flying to Wizarding world locations, walking through Diagon Alley, and through staircases in Hogwarts.

Players can also form clubs and join bands, participating in special in-game cooperative activities. Players create their own character, customizing their appearance, and choosing their wand and their house. Players also learn spells that will prove useful during puzzles and can be accompanied by creatures by collecting cards.

Recently the game announced they will be celebrating the release of the latest Fantastic Beasts movie by releasing an event simultaneously in-game.

Fantastic Beasts Event and How to Play

This limited-time celebration event in Harry Potter: Puzzles and Spells encourages players to experience the wizarding world of “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” by incorporating magical characters and monsters from the film franchise. The legendary Magizoologist, Newt Scamander, makes his debut appearance in the game as a guide and host throughout the entirety of the event.

Players can earn badges to gather the Niffler, a charming magical creature known for collecting sparkling objects and treasures, as a special event bonus. Players can also keep the Niffler as a permanent monster to use in future games. This special event runs from late April to late May 2022, so players have a good amount of time to unlock the Niffler among other rewards.

This in-game event also allows players to unlock the Qilin, probably the wizarding world’s most revered magical beast, to aid in the completion of puzzles, for the duration of the event.
