Elden Ring is an open-world action role-playing developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
Just like Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, Sekiro, and the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. The caveat here is that the game was made in collaboration with the award-winning fantasy novelist and source material creator for the highly popular Game of Thrones television show, George R. R. Martin, who provided a lot of source material for the game’s setting.
Elden Ring was released for Microsoft Windows, Steam Deck, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.
The Soulsborne games are known for their difficulty level, and Elden Ring is no exception. The game starts out relatively easy but does not hold players’ hands at any point. One thing that has been changed, however, is the Multiplayer system in Elden Ring.
Multiplayer
Elden Ring offers online multiplayer features that allows players to interact with other players. Both Online Co-op and Online PvP are available. The Elden Ring multiplayer supports up to four players in a world. To access the online multiplayer, PS Plus and/or an Xbox Live Gold subscription is required when playing on PS4/PS5 or an Xbox console.
Since our players are on Steam Deck, these limitations do not exist.
How to use Multiplayer features
Players need to use special multiplayer items to start interacting with other players. Those Multiplayer Items are accessible through the Multiplayer Menu. Some of them are also usable through the quick-use menu. These are all of the items used for Co-op Multiplayer:
- Tarnished’s Furled Finger: Leaves a gold summon sign on the ground that can be seen by other players in their world. It allows them to summon the sign placer as a Furled Finger for co-op multiplayer.
- Furlcalling Finger Remedy: Players can see summon signs left by other players and interact with them.
- Tarnished’s Wizened Finger: Players can write messages which will be conveyed to other worlds where other players can read them.
- Finger Severer: End the co-op session by selecting and sending players back to their world.
- White Cipher Ring: Allows players to automatically ask for help from a player wearing the Blue Cipher Ring when their own world is invaded.
- Blue Cipher Ring: Puts players in a ‘ready” state to answer, should a player in another world call for rescue. Players will then be summoned to their world as a hunter with the goal of defeating the invader.
- Small Golden Effigy: Sends a co-op sign to the Summoning Pool.
