In Minecraft, the world is endless. And many ask the question: how can you shorten the path from point A to point B? Of course, it’s easy to navigate in creative mode, just fly to the right place. But if you play in survival mode, you can safely get lost in search of your city. So what needs to be done to move faster in such a huge world? There are portals for this. And in this article, we will teach you how to build them.
How to Build a Portal in Minecraft Without Mods
Without mods, you can build portals to the Nether, to the city, and to Ender. The first two can be built both in creative mode and in survival mode, but to Ender only in creative mode.
How to Make a Portal to the Nether
The portal to the Nether is the only portal that can be built without mods. You can use it to travel to hell and back to the city, or to any other convenient point. To build this portal, you need at least 10 blocks of obsidian (this is an economical version of the portal, usually it is built from 14 blocks) and a lighter.

Obsidian can be obtained by flooding lava with water from a bucket. To extract blocks of obsidian, you need a diamond pickaxe (any other will not work). The fire is made from an iron ingot and flint.
As a result, you should get a rectangle of 5 blocks in height and 4 in width with a void in the middle.
Next, we use a lighter, with which we ignite the lower block, and the portal will be activated.
In the Nether the same portal will be automatically created. To return, you need to enter it again.
How to Make a Portal to Your House
The portal to the city is essentially a way out of the Nether. No matter how many portals you build in the world, only the very first one will work as an exit. Thus, it is better to build it in the city or near the house.
How to Make a Portal to Ender
As mentioned earlier, a portal to Ender or the End can only be built in creative mode. Ender represents the island where the wanderers of the edge live, as well as a dragon, after defeating which, the player will see the end-screen.
A portal to the Ender can be built from 12 frames and 12 eyes of Enderman. To activate the portal, you need to place an Eye of the Enderman in each frame.
In survival mode, this portal can only be found in the fortress using the same eye of the Enderman.
