You should know that it is possible to manipulate the size of this circle by holding the Pokeball before throwing it. Lastly, always remember that the size of the Pokemon matters when it comes to these circles. If you’re trying to catch a large Pokemon, then it’ll have the tendency of larger circles.

So you are likely to have a “Great!” throw at bigger Pokémons. Conversely, you’re most-likely to have get the “Excellent!” and “Nice!” throws when you attempt to catch smaller Pokémons. And oftentimes, depending on how you manipulate the size of the circle, you might not get a “Great!” throw when trying to catch a large Pokemon.
