Van sells special items you cannot get anywhere else. In A Wonderful Life, he carries the Fishing Rod in his stock for a cost of 500 gold. As time goes on, Van expands his merchandise to sell things like goats, so make sure to check in during his visits. He always comes around on days 3 and 8 of each month.
