Beginning the Game
When you download Master Duel through Steam and begin the game, the first thing that hits you is the game’s mini questionnaire, before they band some tutorials onto you. Even if you skip these tutorials, you will still get the free stuff from them.
Then, you will have the choice of three starter decks: Power of the Dragon, Link Generation, and Synchro of Unity. We recommend starting off with Synchro of Unity as it possesses three copies of Mystical Space Typhoon, which is amazing to start with.
How to Get More Cards
To celebrate the release of Master Duel, the game is currently offering tons of free gems for players who merely sign up and log in. Gems are what you will use to buy packs of cards. The game gives you 6,000 free gems, which is more than enough to give you some solid pulls and create a dependable deck.
Secret Packs
Probably the best way to obtain powerful cards at the moment is through secret packs. Each secret pack follows a theme, which means the cards within synergize well with each other. To unlock a secret pack, you need to pull a SR or UR card from another card pack. If that SR or UR card is included in a secret pack, it will be available for you to buy.
The other way to unlock secret packs is by crafting an SR or UR card. Just like the previous method, if that SR or UR card is found in a secret pack, the pack will be available to purchase.
Playing the Game
Once you’ve built your deck, you can go ahead and try out solo mode, or even online duels against strangers or friends. You can also play ranked duels online to level up your account or join event duels for special rewards. There are new missions being added regularly, letting you have multiple ways of earning additional rewards.
Spectate to Learn
Master Duel allows players to view a random match from its system, usually from higher-ranked players. As this match has already happened in the past, viewers are free to pause, read cards and duel logs, while watching interactions take place in real time without playing it themselves. Watching these replays is great for making those mental connections and getting exposed to decks that one may not come across in solo mode or in casual matches.
