The Metal Coat in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is an Evolution Item used to increase the power of Steel-type moves. Metal Coat is also used to evolve Onix and Scyther when traded holding the item. It is recommended that Metal Coat is best held by Magneton, Magnenite, and Scyther, or any other Steel-type Pokemon you have.
