Throughout your entire play of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you will have several opportunities to find Shiny Pokemon. But real pro trainers want the rarest Pokemon from the very beginning of the game. In this guide, we’ll tell you how to get it.

How to Get a Shiny Starter

Shiny Pokemon is the rarest species of all possible, such a Pokemon has a special color and it also shines.

We will warn you right away that this will take a very long time. The chance of getting a Shiny Starter is approximately 0.024%.

To simplify the process, before starting the game, go to the settings. Set the text speed to the fastest. And at the bottom, turn off autosave.

Start the game first and save a few times as you approach Verity Lakefront. Then cutscene will begin after which you will be given to choosing one of three Pokemon starters: Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig. You have a chance to get a Shiny version of any of these three.

And so you made your choice, now go into battle. If you see that your Pokemon is normal, just turn off the game.

Now re-enter the game, load before the cutscene, and start over. Be sure to start the battle, because otherwise, you will not know if your Pokemon is shining.

With each new attempt, you can keep saving as close to the cutscene as possible because every second is precious to you. Scroll through the dialogs by pressing the button with lightning speed. According to the probability theory, you can get the Shiny Starter only after 4,096 attempts.

But it all depends on luck, you may need only a couple of hundred tries.
