Two types of party partners can be with you, these being monsters or other residents of Rigbarth. Keep in mind that you can add up to three members at once. So, to invite someone to a party, make sure that their level of friendship is not less than three. How do you raise friendship levels? Just speak to them one time per day and present them with some gifts. After that, talk to them, hit L or R mid-dialogue, and make an invitation to go on an adventure. They will agree if you’ve met the requirements.

Rigbarth residents will refuse to party up during critical events in the town (festivals, for example).
