How to Find and Use Holo-Chests in Fortnite

A new type of chest has been added to Fortnite in Chapter 3 Season 4. The latest update (v22.10) has seen some huge changes, and these unlockable chests are one of them. Find out below how to find and use the Holo-Chests in Fortnite.

Holo-Chests: Where to Find Them and How to Unlock Them

Holo-Chests can be found around the island in rows of four. Much like regular chests, they are unusable once they have been opened and they do not replenish items within them. They can be found everywhere around the island and are represented on the map as a small lock icon, like the vaults. You can only see these lock icons once you pick up a Key, and are nearby.

Each holo-chest needs at least 1 Key to unlock it. Keys are found as floor loot and in chests. The more rare the weapon- the more keys are needed to unlock it. Exotic weapons such as the Boom Sniper Rifle had previously been only available from NPCs, but can now be found in Holo-Chests and unlocked with 2 Keys.

Various weapons in different rarities are available in the Holo-Chests, and they show as a holographic depiction above each chest. So far the only weapons we have not found in these Holo-Chests are the EvoChrome weapons but this may change.
