Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin lets players collect and train a variety of monsters. Among the gameplay systems that are used to power up Monsties is the Rite of Channeling, which essentially allows one Monstie to pass its Genes to another, letting you customize them with all sorts of abilities. Depending on how these Genes are placed on the grid, it’s possible to unlock some other bonuses that maximize the Monsties’ potential.
But what happens when you have no compatible Gene in your possession? You take advantage of the unique properties of Rainbow Genes. Here’s how to get them.
How to Farm Rainbow Genes in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
Rainbow Genes are, without a doubt, the most useful Genes in all of the game, as it is possible to place them in any pattern, allowing you to unlock any of the Bingo Bonuses without having to use Genes of a specific element. As they are so valuable, they are very difficult to come by, and you may spend a lot of time farming for them with little to no result.
To get a Rainbow Gene, you will have to get Rainbow Eggs and hatch them. There’s a set chance that the Monstie hatching from a Rainbow Egg will come with a Rainbow Gene, but this is not a guarantee. To increase your chances of getting a Rainbow Gene for your desired monster type, you need to offer Luck Charms at the Prayer Pot, head to an area whose den can yield eggs of your desired monster, and search rare dens. If you cannot find what you are looking for, go to the closes Catavan Station, change the time of day and try again until you finally get what you are looking for.
As this is a very time-consuming process, we suggest you start farming Rainbow Genes only after you have completed the game. Passing them to other Monsties in the Rite of Channeling is only needed to max out any particular monster, so if you’re just looking to complete the main game, there’s no real reason to do so.
