The first step to getting your own Rhyperior is, quite obviously, getting your hands on a Rhydon. You can do this by either catching a Rhyhorn and training it till level 42 to evolve it into Rhydon, or directly catching a wild Rhyhorn. You can catch either of the two Pokemon in Route 227, Stark Mountain, or various places in the Grand Underground.
After you’ve gotten a Rhydon of your own, now comes the second step: acquiring the item Protector. There is one that can be easily found at the entrance of Route 228. You can get more of these, but you’ll have to wait till post-game and buy one from the Battle Tower.
Now that you’ve got the Protector with you as well, go ahead and have your Rhydon hold it. The method is evolve Rhydon into Rhyperior requires you to trade Rhydon while it is holding the Protector.
So, make sure you have a trusty friend who will trade you your Rhydon that has evolved into a Rhyperior back to you once the trade has finished.
