How to Evolve Eevee in Pokémon Go

Pokémon GO was a smash hit when it first came out, breaking all sorts of concurrent player records for the Pokémon franchise all over the world!

As is with every Pokémon game, players are tasked with searching for Pokémon to capture and collect, using them to battle other Pokémon, be it against the AI or against other players. The difference with Pokémon GO is that it utilizes the player’s phone GPS to find and capture Pokémon!

One of the most popular Pokémon throughout the series has been Eevee. It was so popular that it managed to acquire its own spin-off game in Pokémon Let’s GO! alongside Pikachu.

How to evolve Eevee

In Pokémon GO, Eevee evolves differently from most Pokémon. Since it has so many different evolutions, there are different ways of evolving it.

The classic means of getting the Eevee-lution of choice is to give it a specific nickname before it evolves. With this method, all the player has to do is to rename the Eevee with one of the names below.

After doing this, acquire the 25 candies required to evolve it. If everything is done right, the Eevee should evolve into any one of these forms:

• Vaporeon (Water-type): Rainer
• Flareon (Fire-type): Pyro
• Jolteon (Electric-type): Sparky
• Umbreon (Dark-type): Tamao
• Espeon (Psychic-type): Sakura
• Glaceon (Ice-type): Rea
• Leafeon (Grass-type): Linnea
• Sylveon (Fairy-type): Kira

One important detail is that it only works once for each nickname. The nickname can be safely changed back after the Eevee evolves.

Alternate Evolution Methods

If the nickname method isn’t something the player wants to do, there are other methods available.

• Espeon: Walk 10km with Eevee as a buddy, earn two candies and evolve during the day.
• Umbreon: Walk 10km with Eevee as a buddy, earn two candies and evolve during the night.
• Glaceon: Acquire the Glacial Lure Module, apply it to a PokéStop and evolve Eevee.
• Leafeon: Acquire the Mossy Lure Module, apply it to a PokéStop and evolve Eevee.
• Sylveon: Accumulate 75 hearts as a buddy with Eevee and evolve it.

Unfortunately, the original trio of Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon have no alternate means of evolution, so they will need the nickname method.
