If you have been following the news surrounding Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s PC release, there is no doubt you heard the buzz about the game’s less-than-stellar performance. Thankfully, since the game is on PC, the modders are already coming to the rescue. One such modder, PureDark, is working on a way to get DLSS into the game to make it run better. Here is how to download and use the DLSS mod for Jedi Survivor.
Using PureDark’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor DLSS mod
For those wishing to get right into it, please understand that PureDark has not officially released the DLSS mod yet, and it is still very much a work in progress. However, they have stated that they are planning to stop polishing the mod soon, which means a public release should be right around the corner, and hopefully other modders can continue developing it.
PureDark is a modder who managed to implement Nvidia’s DLSS technology into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which makes the game run better overall.
Check out PureDark’s video below to see the DLSS implementation in action. There is a noticeable frame rate boost thanks to DLSS, with some graphical artifacts, but that is a given due to the nature of the mod.
Unsure of what any of this means? DLSS, which stands for Deep Learning Super Sampling, is Nvidia’s proprietary AI frame interpolator that generates more frames by sampling existing frames.
Put simply, a game that can take advantage of DLSS usually runs and looks better. Normally, DLSS can only be used with certain games, but with some technical prowess, modders can get it running in other games as well.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor does not natively support DLSS, but it does support AMD’s own FidelityFX Super Resolution, or FSR, which aims to upsample frames into a higher resolution. The end result is effectively the same as DLSS, although this did not appear to be the case with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s performance on AMD GPUs.
So, if you are looking to get your hands on PureDark’s DLSS mod for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, keep an eye out on their YouTube channel. Hopefully the wait will not be long, as PureDark stated themselves that they have no intention to continue polishing the mod, and will release it to the public very soon, as per the video description.
