One such technique is the start boost, which propels your kart ahead right at the beginning of the race. Today, we’ll show you how to do a start boost in KartRider: Drift guide!

Performing a start boost in KartRider: Drift

If you’re a veteran Mario Kart player, the start boost activation in KartRider: Drift may come as a surprise to you. In the Mario Kart games, you achieve the start boost by holding down accelerate after the 2 in the starting countdown disappears.

In KartRider: Drift, doing the start boost is a little different. To perform a start boost in KartRider: Drift, you need to press and hold the accelerate button as soon as you see the word GO appear.

This means you need to wait until the very end of the starting countdown before you hit the gas. If you accelerate too early or late, you’ll miss out on the starting boost, so watch out for those trigger fingers!

You’ll know you did it right when you see a beam of colorful energy emit from the back of your kart. Make sure to keep holding the accelerate button, otherwise you’ll cut your start boost short.

The closer your timing is to the word GO appearing, the longer your start boost will be. If your timing is off, you’ll still get the start boost, but it’ll dissipate faster than usual.

Please note that if you have auto-accelerate enabled in the game settings, you will still need to time your accelerate in order to get the start boost. The game will not perform start boosts for you, even with auto-accelerate enabled.
