How to defeat the Tree Sentinel in Elden Ring on Steam Deck

The Tree Sentinel is very aptly added into the game as an optional boss, simply because it is not ideal for you to take him on the first time you are able to encounter him in the overworld. You will struggle to land hits on him while he fires off very accurate and hard hitting strikes that will make quick work of you.

The Tree Sentinel is meant to be fought when you yourself have a mount that you can use in combat. Something like Torrent, the horse mount that you receive from Melina, would be effective in having an easier time with Tree Sentinel, even if you’re still using your base weapon.

Defeating Tree Sentinel when you have a strong weapon, powerful flasks, and a dominating mount is obviously going to be a no-brainer. We know there are a lot of you stubborn players out there who would want to beat Tree Sentinel before you get any of these, though.

The solution for doing just that is going to be pretty boring. Since you don’t have the damage, nor can you take his onslaught of attacks, you will have to employ the good ol’ hit-and-run strategy.

Get behind Tree Sentinel, get as many hits on him as you can, then move back when you notice him getting ready to strike back at you, and repeat this process many, many times. You’ll need to be quite patient to actually take down Tree Sentinel using this method.

It would also be wise to deflect his attacks by using your shield, then hit him back. This would take quite some resource management, as blocking drains your stamina pretty quickly.
