Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, is one of the major bosses that players have to beat in order to advance the story and reach the Legacy Dungeon.
How to Defeat Rennala in Elden Ring
When you begin the fight with Rennala in the first phase, you will notice that there is a horde of little sprawling children, who basically act as her minions. While trying to get rid of them by killing each one is not the best tactic, as they will just reappear, it is recommended that you hit them once in between to stop their attack animation.
Zeroing in on this tactic, you need to find three of these children that have a golden aura surrounding them. These three children will be among the ones hurling books at you, and their aura is similar to the one Rennala will show off as she’s charging up her powerful attack. Before she can fire it off at you for cataclysmic damage, you need to hit the three kids with the golden aura.
This causes Rennala to fall to the ground for a while, unable to defend herself. Use this time to damage her as much as possible, and repeat this process if necessary, to finish the Rennala boss fight’s first phase.
The second phase can either be easier than the first, or complete hell. If you manage to avoid Rennala’s very telegraphed attacks and damage her while she’s off-guard, you can take her down quickly, which is key.
If you let her hang around for too long after depleting half her health, she will summon strong allies such as a Dragon and Bloodhound Knight, which will make this battle much harder than it needs to be. If this happens, make sure you have your own spirit summons around to distract her allies so you can make quick work of the glass cannon that is Rennala.
Beating Rennala will reward you with the Great Rune of the Unborn, Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen, and 40,000 Runes.
