How to Defeat Rajang in Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise features a lot of different monsters that will put your skills to the test, but very few will manage to do so as much as Rajang does. This monster, which is one of the most popular monsters of the entire series, will not go down easily, and you will need to be at the top of the game to take it down.

Here are some tips on how to defeat Rajang without too much trouble.

Overview

Rajang is a monster that truly needs to introduction for Monster Hunter veterans. This Fanged Beast made its debut in the series long ago, and every time it has appeared, it has always been among the strongest monster included in any specific game. As it is weak to Ice and Water, and capable of dealing Thunder elemental damage, you should bring the appropriate gear to deal more damage and protect yourself from this beast’s relentless assaults.

Where to Find Rajang

Rajang can be found in the Shrine Ruins, starting in Areas 5 and 7, the Frost Islands, starting in Area 9, the Sandy Plains, starting in Area 12, the Flooded Forest, starting in Areas 6 and 9 and the Lava Caverns, starting in Area 12.

How to Beat Rajang

Beware of the Rage

Rajang, like a few other monsters in Monster Hunter Rise, has a special Enrage Mode where it becomes considerably more powerful and thus more dangerous. You will know Rajang has entered this mode when you hear the monster roar and then glow yellow. In this state, all attacks to the monster’s fists will be deflected, its attacks will be faster and more damaging and it will get access to the Jumping Slam attack.

As Rajang is extremely dangerous in Enrage Mode, you want to knock it out of it as soon as you can. To do so, you will have to attack its tail: once enough damage is done, not only Rajang will be out of Enrage, but it will also get knocked down, giving you the opportunity to deal some serious damage.

Now That’s An Opportunity!

Speaking of opportunities to deal some damage, Rajang doesn’t leave itself open too often, but some of its attacks do if you manage to avoid them the right way. When the monster uses Backstep, try to stay just outside of the attack range to take advantage of the long-ish recovery time; when the monster uses Jumping Slam, dodge the attack to strike back; when the monster uses Lightning Beam, get out of the attack range, and use the time needed for the monster to recover to damage it as much as possible.

Emergency Evade

As Rajang is capable not only of dealing a lot of damage but also of combining some of its attacks to unleash a relentless offense, you will always need to be on your toes to avoid them. Always be on the move and try to save Wirebug gauge for when you need an emergency evade option.
