  • Carve a scary jack-o-lantern
  • Give a child some candy
  • Go out in a costume
  • ??? (Mourn someone’s death)

How to Complete the Spooktober Challenge

For this challenge, you’ll need a lot of money, and you’ll also need to be close with your family. Early on in the game, just live a normal life — be good in school, be nice to your family, and go through college. You’ll want a good job, because you’ll be buying a house as soon as you’re able to.

Once you’ve saved up some money, go ahead and start looking for houses. You’ll want a haunted house specifically, so keep an eye out on the house details. Move into the house and attempt to summon the ghost through the housing options, and you’ll knock off the first objective. If the ghost is not active haunting the house, try to exorcise it and you’ll anger it.

For the jack-o-lantern objective, you’ll randomly get an event every time you advance a year involving carving pumpkins. The game will present you with multiple options, so make sure to pick the scary jack-o-lantern option to fulfill this objective.

Now you’ll need to give some candy to a child. The most straightforward approach is to have a kid of your own, and then go to the family menu and interact with them to give them candy. You can also do this with a niece or nephew, if you don’t want any kids. The only thing to keep in mind is that this only works with kids that are young enough — we found that 10-year-olds seems to be the magic number.

Now you have to “go out in costume”. We were never really clear on what this meant exactly, but the community has found out that robbing a bank counts as going out in costume. Just make sure you have an expensive car to increase your chances of a successful getaway!

The final objective is a secret one: you’ll need to mourn someone who has passed away, be it a friend or family member. You can simply wait until your parents grow old and pass naturally, then select them from the family list and choose the mourn option. You can also take the more sinister route and murder someone if you’re too impatient, you monster!

And that’s it — you’ve just completed the Spooktober challenge! If you have any other tips or tricks to share, let us know in the comments below!
