Sidequests in Shin Megami Tensei V are mostly a straightforward affair, but a few of them allow players to pick a side between two different demons, changing the quest, the clear conditions, and the rewards they can get.
One of these sidequests is the Spirit of Love. It is the first sidequest with multiple outcomes and taking it on is a great way to understand how this type of sidequest works.
How to Complete the Spirit of Love Sidequest in Shin Megami Tensei V
The Spirit of Love sidequest can be started in the Minato Ward by going into the cave to the east of the Shiba Leyline Fount. The exact location of the cave is marked on the map above.
Once inside the cave, speak with Apsaras, who will inform you that Leanan Sidhe is getting in her righteous way, charming demons to her side. She will ask for your help to stop her, and if you accept, you will have to take Leanan Sidhe down. The demon charmer is found to the west of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount, in the location marked on the map below.
Once at this location, interact with Leanan Sidhe. At this point, you can either fulfill Apsaras’ request and fight both the female demon and the Ippon Datara that accompanies her or talk with her. If you decide to side with Leanan Sidhe, you will fail The Spirit of Love and start The Water Nymph sidequest, which will require you to fight Apsaras instead.
If you decide to fight Leanan Sidhe, make sure to bring demons capable of using Hama skills, as both Ippon Datara and Leanan Sidhe are weak against Light. Do focus on the female demon first, as she can use Mudo and can kill instantly any of your demons, even if they are not weak against Darkness.
After defeating the two demons, head back to Apsaras to complete the quest, receive 2 Health Incenses and 700 EXP points as reward and welcome her into your party.
