Hogwarts Legacy brings hours of joy to the fans of the Harry Potter universe with its main storyline, which takes you directly to the various classes of Hogwarts. But it also offers more than 50 side quests, expanding on the game lore and making sure you explore almost every part of the sprawling map of the school and its surroundings.

How to start the “Ghost of Our Love” side quest in Hogwarts Legacy
To start the “Ghost of Our Love” side quest in Hogwarts Legacy, you need to find the Map with Floating Candles. This is possible during the house-specific quest where you need to find the ghost of Richard Jackdaw, and the locations of the map differ based on your house:
- Gryffindor: the grave next to the crypt (after you talk to Sir Patrick Delaney-Podmore);
- Ravenclaw: at the top of the Owlery;
- Hufflepuff: in a chest in Upper Hogsfield, to the right of the door of the house behind Claire Beaumont’s stall;
- Slytherin: Apollonia’s Grotto, in the secret area that opens after you place a piece of toast on the pedestal.
When you obtain the map, this side quest pops up in the list of quests in your Field Guide, but selecting it won’t get you any quest markers. To complete the “Ghost of Our Love” quest, you will need to decipher the map first.
How to decipher the map for “Ghost of Our Love” side quest in Hogwarts Legacy
The Map with Floating Candles will be stored in your Inventory under Quest Items. It is a series of drawings that should point you to a location where the quest starts.
In the upper left corner, you can see a dark forest with a moon, which indicates the time of the day when you should start the quest. In the upper right section, you can see clues that point to the general location—the archway is the entrance to the Forbidden Forest, near Hogsmeade, which is represented by the houses.
The lower half of the map tells you more specifically to look for a stone bridge, where you need to cast the spell whose symbol is visible here—Lumos.
How to complete the “Ghost of Our Love” side quest in Hogwarts Legacy
Now you know, based on those clues, that what you need to do is go to the bridge near the entrance to the Forbidden Forest at night. You can fly there, or use the Floo Network if you still need to buy a broom.
Once you get there, you will find a love letter on the bridge, referring to a picnic for two lovers. Cast Lumos to reveal three floating candles and follow them into the woods. The candles will lead you through the Forbidden Forest to the picnic spot on the hill without exposing you to any danger.
When you reach a small picnic setup, more floating candles will pop up, including the treasure chest, which you can now open and finish the quest. The rewards include:
- XP points
- A piece of gear
- 400 Galleons
