Hippopotas

How to Catch Hippopotas in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Hippopotas is a Pokémon that was first introduced in the original Gen 4 games of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum that takes place in the Sinnoh region. Fittingly, Hippopotas is also a part of the Hisui region which is what Sinnoh used to be in the past.

Hippopotas is a ground-type Pokémon that can be very useful in battle. Hippopotas and its evolved form, Hippowdon, are known to be quite tanky in battle and can absorb a lot of damage while also being able to dish it out in battle!

Such a Pokémon was generally coveted by a lot of trainers in the original games and is also a topic of discussion today. So how does someone acquire Hippopotas in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Pokémon Legends: Arceus adds a lot of new sidequests to the game. One of them, given by the fashionista Anthe in Jubilife Village, involves finding two Hippopotas. This quest can be acquired while the player is adventuring through the Obsidian Fieldlands.

Once the quest is acquired, the player can traverse to a new patch of land that has opened up. Hippopotas can be found roaming about around Sludge Mound, which is south-east of the Golden Lowlands. Even though they are easy to encounter, fighting and catching them may not be as easy.

If the player tries to fight the Hippopotas, in most cases, they start to flee after one turn in battle. The easiest way to capture one would be to set a trap for it using its favorite berries, then wait for it to approach. This can lead to an easy capture using stealth.

To make it even easier for the player, we recommend using Heavy Balls for such an encounter, which will increase the players’ chances of capturing this mini Behemoth!
