How to Catch An Eel in Stardew Valley – Guide

Stardew Valley is easily one of the most popular farming simulation games on mobile with millions of players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and other compatible platforms. There’s a lot you can do in the game from rearing domestic animals to gathering useful resources to help you survive.

Another fun activity in the game is fishing. And although it can be very challenging to catch all the fish in the valley, you can try to capture the fishes that will give you the best benefit. Some fishes spawn in specific locations while others only appear during certain times of the day such as the Eel. So in this article, we’ll be guiding you on how to catch an Eel in Stardew Valley.

How to Catch An Eel in Stardew Valley – Guide

The Eel, like many other fishes in Stardew Valley, only appears during the spring or fall season and it must be raining before you can catch one. In addition to rainfall, the Eel will only appear between 4 PM and 2 AM, which means you’ll have to be patient for most parts of the day before you can attempt to catch it.

Also, you’ll have to be very fast and have a quick reference guide on catching the Eel else you’ll be forced to wait a whole year before getting another chance to catch the fish. So when you’re ready to catch the Eel, head to the ocean, run to the docks and hang out by Willy to see if the two of you can try to get the Eel to show up.

The Eel isn’t an easy fish to catch and players ought to have enough experience with fishing to have a good chance of getting their hands on the Eel. And like many other fishes in the game, you might know its location and times of appearance but the problem will be when it’s time to pull it out of the water and actually catch it.

If this is the case for you, we suggest using the fiberglass or iridium rod to add bait to your cast. The iridium rod can be used as bait and tackle but you’ll need a fishing level 6 to use it.

Ultimately, Eels will eventually appear during the right season and time. But if you’re tired of waiting, you can also check the trash cans in the game as there’s a rare chance of finding an Eel inside one of them. Have fun fishing!
