Catching Void Salmons in Stardew Valley

Before you can even attempt to catch a Void Salmon, you’ll need to unlock the required area. If you wandered up to the northernmost point of Stardew Valley, you’ve probably seen the railroad tracks.

For the extra curious types, you may have even seen the strange statue blocking the cave entrance near the railroad tracks. In order to get through the statue, you’ll need to complete the Dark Talisman story quest.

To unlock the Dark Talisman story quest, you’ll need to complete all bundles of the Community Center or all tasks from the Joja Warehouse. Once you’ve done either of these tasks, head to the railroad tracks, and you’ll see a cutscene.

Afterward, the Dark Talisman story quest will be added to your journal. The Wizard requests that you get his Magic Ink back from his ex-wife’s house.

Head down into the sewers, and talk to Krobus to gain entry into the Mutant Bug Lair. Fight your way through to the end of the area, and grab the talisman near the end. The Mutant Bug Lair is pretty small, so don’t worry about prepping for a long adventure.

Return to the statue by the railroad tracks. With the talisman in hand, the statue will mysteriously disappear, and the way forward is now unblocked. Go inside the cave, walk onto the strange symbol on the ground, and you’ll end up in the Witch’s Swamp.
