How to Beat the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring on Steam Deck

Elden Ring is an open-world action role-playing developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Just like Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, Sekiro, and the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. The caveat here is that the game was made in collaboration with the award-winning fantasy novelist and source material creator for the highly popular Game of Thrones television show, George R. R. Martin, who provided a lot of source material for the game’s setting.

Elden Ring was released for Microsoft Windows, Steam Deck, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.

The Soulsborne games are known for their difficulty level and Elden Ring is no exception. The biggest difficulty spikes come in terms of their bosses. Today we will be talking about one of those bosses, namely the Godskin Duo.

Godskin Duo

Godskin Duo is a Boss in Elden Ring. Not just one boss this time, the duo is actually a dual-boss fight consisting of a Godskin Apostle and a Godskin Noble. For older Dark Souls players, this might be very reminiscent of the Ornstein and Smough boss battle from the first game.

The Godskin Duo is found in Crumbling Farum Azula. This boss is significant towards story progress and therefore is not an optional boss. Players need to defeat the Godskin Duo in order to advance to the rest of Crumbling Farum Azula.

But how does one defeat them?

Godskin Duo Strategy

This fight is definitely one of the tougher ones in Elden Ring. We suggest going into this fully prepared by grabbing the Mimic Tear Ashes from Nokron and upgrading it as much as possible. For best results, +10 Mimic upgrade would be perfect.

The Mimic Tear Ashes should be used as soon as the battle begins because this ability creates a copy of the player character to fight alongside the player. The copy also mimics the abilities the player has.

The idea here is to have the player focus their attacks on whoever the copy is also attacking. This way, the copy goes in first and takes the aggro off the player while the player gets a bunch of free hits in before the bosses react. Watch out for the other enemy while killing one of them, because they will not be sitting idle the whole time this is happening.

And finally, the best strategy here would be to use the time saved by bursting down one enemy to immediately attack the other as soon as the first one falls. If done right, players should be able to take down the second boss while the first one is respawning. Do this back and forth with proper timing and players should be able to consistently fight one boss at a time without needing to worry about the other (except for at the beginning of the fight).

As far as weaknesses go, both bosses are weak to Bleed damage, so if the player has a weapon that can proc Bleed, it will make the fight a whole lot easier.
