Tapu Koko Raid Guide for Pokémon Go
Season 9 “Mythical Wishes” is now underway, and the end of this week marks the beginning of a new event, Crackling Voltage. Starting January 27 and lasting until Februrary 5, players can encounter lots of themed Pokémon in the wild.
This event also marks the return of Tapu Koko, who can be challenged exclusively in five-star raids. Tapu Koko is a powerful legendary Pokémon, and as such, you need to prepare adequately before you decide to take it on.
Note that this event includes the debut of Tapu Koko’s shiny form. If you’re an avid shiny hunter, this is the time to take down Tapu Koko!

Tapu Koko is a dual-type Electric and Fairy-type Pokémon with the following stats:
- Raid CP: 45438 – 55650
- Attack: 250
- Defense: 181
- Stamina: 172
As you can see, Tapu Koko will hit very hard with moves like Volt Switch and Dazzling Gleam, two of its best moves. Don’t bring any Pokémon that are weak to Electric or Fairy-type moves, as they’ll be punished hard.
The best counters for Tapu Koko include Pokémon that can attack with Ground or Poison-type moves. Ground-type Pokémon are especially powerful here, as they completely nullify any Electric-type attacks made against them.

These Pokémon are capable are learning Ground and Poison-type moves, and they’re also at least partly Ground-type themselves, which renders them invulnerable to Tapu Koko’s Electric-type moves.
As long as you have a team full of the proper types of Pokémon, you should be set up for victory. Just get their CP up, and you’ll be ready to face off against Tapu Koko.
