There’s currently no official method of getting different forms of Vivillon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet—the majority of captured Vivillon are Fancy Forms. But for right now, players can link their Pokémon Go accounts to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This gives players the chance to acquire Gimmighoul’s Roaming Form, which cannot be simply acquired in-game.

As the feature is set to expand in 2023, players have speculated that in order to get different forms for Vivillon, they will need to use postcards. This would mean different countries are allowed to catch different Vivillon forms. So, by using postcards, players can trade with one another and even collect all the forms.

But again, this is merely speculation and nothing is official yet. So enjoy playing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet before the might-be-happening changes to Vivillon forms do take place at some point in 2023.
