In our Home Restoration tips and tricks guide, we will go over the basics of restoration, and walk you through some of the most common tasks you will be faced with. We will also help you with selling to ensure that you get the best prices. So, here is our Home Restoration tips and cheats strategy guide to earning lots of money!

Restoring your First House

When you first start Home Restoration, you will be presented with a list of houses. You will start out on Street 1, and you will be given a list of six houses. To move onto the next street, you will need to sell all six houses. Before you can start restoring a house, you must purchase the lot. The number below the house represents the lot’s cost.

Once you purchase the house, it is time to get down and dirty! You will see two symbols in the house, and these represent the main sections that need to be restored. Most of the tasks are pretty straight forward. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to be as precise and neat as possible – do not leave a single pixel left unrestored!

Floor Restoration

For this task, you will have a scrubber that can clean the floor of its existing polish. Drag the scrubber across to clean the entire floor, but make sure that you do not drag too fast, otherwise the scrubber will clean in spots. Use smooth drags to ensure to clean in the most efficient manner.

Next, you get to choose the color of the new floor polish. It does not matter what polish/color you choose, so go ahead and pick the one that you think matches with the rest of the house the best. Once you cover all of the floor with the new polish, you are done!

Window Cleaning

To clean mirrors, you will first need to spray the soap solutions all over the window. Make sure not to miss a spot! Again, use slow and precise drags to ensure the most coverage. Next, you need to take the squeegee and wipe the windows clean. Same thing here – just use slow movements and you should be good.

Wall Repair

To repair damaged patches in the wall, you will need to fill it with new drywall first. Use the gun to fill in the entire hole, making sure not to miss any spots. Once the drywall is in, you need to go over the entire hole with spackle. Cover the whole the hole and you should be good to go.

Next, you get to choose the new color for the wall. Just like the floor, you can choose whatever you like, as it holds no bearing on the flat’s value. Roll the painter over the whole wall smoothly, using slow and broad strokes.

Appliance Cleaning

Sometimes, the houses you buy will come with appliances like fridges, dishwashers, and more. These appliances work fine, but they are a little unsightly, so you need to clean and polish them up.

When you start cleaning, the appliance will begin to rotate in the middle of the screen. Simply drag where you want to clean, and the scrubber will take off any dirt and grime. You cannot rotate the appliance manually, so just wait for it to do a full rotation to ensure that you get all of the gunk off.

These are all of the restoration techniques you will use as you progress through the game. Remember that accuracy and cleanliness counts – the more spotless the house is after you restore it, the higher its value!

Furnishing the Restored House

Now that you have cleaned up the house and restored it to a presentable state, it is time to furnish it! When you are done restoring, you will see green plus signs pop up all over the room, and each of these represents a furnishing opportunity.

The game will present you with three different options: modest, standard, and luxury furniture. Modest furniture will boost the flat’s value by a minimum, while luxury will boost it the most. However, you can only use the luxury furniture if watch a short advertisement.

If you do not want to wait, then the standard furniture will do just fine. Whatever you do, do not ever use the modest furniture – the return value on the flat is just not worth it in the end, even though you are saving money initially.

Selling the House and Maximizing Profits

Your house is restored, touched up, and furnished with all of the latest furniture. Now, it is time to put it on the market and look for the best offer! After you finish furnishing the house, you will be presented with three different offers.

These offers are randomly generated, and the game will calculate the difference between the total money you spent on the house and the offer, marking each offer as either good, fair, or bad. Good is green, fair is blue, and bad is red.

Our general rule of thumb is simple: accept the first good offer you receive, and you will always be in the green. If your first offer is bad or fair, you can look at the next offer to see if it is better, but remember that you only get three offers!

If you reach the last offer and you are still not happy, you can watch an advertisement to get an extra offer. Otherwise, you will be forced to accept the offer. This is why it is safer to just accept the first good offer you see rather than try for a potentially slightly better offer.

Final Tips

  • Always make sure that your cleaning jobs are spotless. Your houses’ final price will be slightly boosted if you did a good job cleaning and restoring.
  • Use slow and smooth movements to ensure a good cleaning job. Fast movements will make your tool “skip,” leaving behind patches of uncleaned surface.
  • Do not worry if you end up selling your flat at a bad price. The game gives you plenty of chances to make extra money with the other houses on the street.
