A beautiful platform game is getting added to the already impressive Apple Arcade library next year. While The Artful Escape may not be the most original game around, it has so much going on that it will surely become one of the best games available on the service.
During yesterday’s X019, it’s been confirmed that The Artful Escape, developed by Annapurna Interactive, will be released on Apple Arcade sometime in 2020. There has been no mention of a regular release, so it’s likely that the game will stay as an Apple Arcade exclusive for the time being.
The Artful Escape is an extremely good looking platform game where players take on the role of Francis Vendetti on the even of his big performance. As if stage fright wasn’t enough, Francis will have to deal with a lot of other issues, like his uncle’s legacy, an ancient legend and his own imagination. The game has been described by the developer as the journey David Bowie would have made to create Ziggy Stardust, so expect to see plenty of psychedelic landscapes.
As a platform game, The Artful Escape seems to be quite basic. Players will move through a variety of different stages, accompanied by an excellent sound production that will be triggered by cues found all over stages. Music will be a big part of the experience, and players will also be able to take part in jams.
The Artful Escape launches on Apple Arcade sometime next year.
