Unless… you join Cobra yourself! For the more chaotic players, joining Cobra is also a possibility and you can strive to take down the Joes once and for all. Which side will you join? The choice is yours!

In our G.I. Joe: War on Cobra tips and tricks guide, we will show you the basics of the game and how to get lots and lots of minerals and oil. We will also show you how to command the battlefield and triumph over your enemies, so let’s get started with our G.I. Joe: War on Cobra cheats, tips and tricks strategy guide to winning more battles!

Leave no structure behind for full rewards!

To get a 3-star rating on an assault, you need to completely wipe out the enemy’s base. That means no structures left behind, no matter how big or small. The most common structures to miss are the Mineral Storages and the Oil Rigs since they are usually off to the side away from the main assault path.

If you want the full minerals and oils, you need to get three stars which means destroying everything. Be sure to use your redirect command so that your units sweep the entire area. Destroy everything!!

Command your units and use the flare gun often!

Using the flare gun, you can target a specific structure or enemy on the field. All currently deployed troops on the battlefield will immediately target this enemy, so it is useful to use on high-priority targets like a defense tower that can wipe out your squadron quickly or an exposed power station to cut power to the other towers.

Alternatively, you can tap on a deployed unit’s portrait to command JUST that group individually. This is helpful if you have units that are more effective against specific targets, like those who are equipped with explosives and can take down structures easily but not ground infantry.

Additionally, you do not even need a target – you can simple direct a unit to a spot on the battlefield for better positioning or to avoid a very obvious trap. The cooldown on ordering units around is VERY short, so do not be afraid to use it liberally.

Follow the Tips quest line!

If you are ever unsure of what to work towards next, simply take a look at your Tips. The Tips quests will show you quests that are relevant to your current level and tier, so you will be led down the general progression path as long as you keep completing the tips.

Your structures will be sufficiently leveled as long as you keep doing the tips, and as a bonus you get a diamonds every time you complete one of the quests. This is one of the surefire ways to get more diamonds as a free player, so you want to do them especially for the diamonds!

Work on the events and claim your rewards!

Events are limited-time tips that reward you with a special event currency. Events unlock when you upgrade your headquarters to level 3, so do that right away. Once you do this, you can access the events on the right side of the screen.

You will see several quests listed on the right side. These quests require you to do things that you will naturally do as you play the game, like upgrade a structure or unit, win a campaign level, and so forth. Every time you complete a corresponding quest, you will gain trophies for that quest.

When you get enough trophies to hit a threshold, you will earn the silver coins that can only be used while the event is active. Each quest has three thresholds, so make sure to get as many silver coins as possible.

With silver coins in hand, you can purchase buyout boxes. These boxes contain a random assortment of goodies, including diamonds, credits, battle medals, and more. They also contain epic-level unit cards, so try to get all of the rewards! The rewards are given at random, but they are not infinite – you can eventually get everything that is listed inside the box.

Try out different heroes!

No matter if you picked Cobra or joined the Joes, you will start the game out with only one hero unit. This hero is important to your success, as their improved stats and special abilities are the key to winning some of the battles earlier on.

Nevertheless, there are more heroes for you to discover as you progress through the game, each with their own unique abilities. On the Joe’s side, we have Scarlett, the hacker who can temporarily turn enemy turrets on their owners, and Doc who can heal allied units around her with the Triage ability. Equally, Cobra has a bunch of heroes that can change up the battlefield.

You can only bring one hero with you into a battle, so make sure you pick the right one for the job. Focus on what they are good at doing, and make sure your supporting units compliment the hero well.

Join the other side when you are waiting for things to finish!

Unlike other PvP-type tower defense games with factions, G.I. Joe: War On Cobra allows you to switch factions on the fly with the simple tap of a button on the main menu screen. The best part is that all of your progress with your current faction is saved, and both factions exist in their own separate progression files.

Your resources do not carry over however, so you cannot bring over minerals and oil from one side to the other. This is because your structures are also unique to the faction, and if you go to the other side when you have things building, they will continue to count down.

This is really nice because this means that if you need an important structure to finish upgrading but it is going to take literal hours, you might as well switch to the opposite side and you can continue playing without a hitch. If you balance your buildings right, you can keep playing G.I Joe: War On Cobra for a very long time!

Building your defenses!

Eventually, your base will be opened up to attack by other players. As you level up, you will unlock more and more structures you can put down at your base, and many of them will be defense towers that fire upon invaders.

One key thing to remember is that defense towers must be powered by a nearby power station. Use this to your advantage! If you see a way that can lead you to an exposed power station, destroy it and all nearby towers will deactivate.

Conversely, you do not want this to happen to your own defenses, so make sure that you protect your power stations very well, otherwise your whole defense may come crumbling down.

You also get things that deny route access, like Land Mines that deal massive damage to enemies in a group. You get three tank traps at the start as well, and you can use these to wall off certain areas of your base. Units can still shoot over them, but they cannot pass through. With clever placement of the tank traps, you can force enemies to enter unfavorable positions!

Do not let cargo boxes go to waste!

You have four cargo slots to hold cargo boxes. Every time you win a battle against another opponent, you will win a cargo box. Cargo boxes contain resources and unit cards, so they are integral in powering up your squad.

It is important to note that the cargo boxes in G.I. Joe: War on Cobra take a long time to open – the most common rarity box, the bronze cargo box, takes four hours to open. It is very easy to fill up on cargo boxes when you do not use diamonds to rush them, so be careful not to waste any boxes.

That’s all for G.I. Joe: War On Cobra! If you have any other tips or tricks to share, let us know in the comments below!
