Follow the Tale of a Young Boy and His Pet Pelican in Storm Boy

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

The relationships between man and animal have always been a complex concept. Yet, sometimes the bonds of friendship that form seem so simple and easy to understand. Such is the case when a young boy orphans a peculiar pelican chick in the tale of Storm Boy.

Storm Boy is an atmospheric adventure game that is based on Colin Thiele’s 1964 children’s book of the same name. Somewhere on the beaches of South Australia lives a boy and his father.

One of the boy’s favorite things to do was to go wander down the beach and watch the animals. One day, he witnesses a mother pelican shot out of the air, and ends up stumbling upon her three chicks. He takes them in and raises them, releasing them once they were okay enough to live on their own.

One day, one of the pelicans, now fully grown, returns to the boy and forms a bond with him. The two spend their days playing on the beach, enjoying life like it is supposed to be enjoyed – in the company of good friends.

Storm Boy is faithful interactive retelling of the classic story. Players will take control of both the boy and Mr. Percival, the pelican’s name lovingly given by the boy. Sometimes they will relax on the beach playing fun little mini games, and sometimes they will spring into action when the situation calls for it, like when stranded sailors need help.

Storm Boy features a beautiful art style and an equally intriguing gameplay system. You can witness this wonderful story unfold yourself when Storm Boy launches on the App Store on November 20 for 2.99 USD.
