Recently, players have been encountering the issue of not being able to access the multiplayer feature of Elden Ring, across all platforms.
FromSoftware themselves have acknowledged this issue, and as of March 23, had said that Elden Ring would be down for maintenance for Steam and PlayStation.
The developers elaborated that the maintenance would begin on March 23rd at 1 am Pacific / 8 am UK time, with an estimated duration of one hour. This was offset by a follow-up tweet that mentioned that the Steam / PlayStation server maintenance is going to be extended without any estimation of when servers would be back online.
After around six hours, the maintenance was finally complete, and with it, online services were fixed and are now fully functional to indulge in.
If you still happen to have any multiplayer issues plaguing you anytime in the future, you can follow these general but effective tips…
How to Fix Multiplayer Issues in Elden Ring on Steam Deck
Check for Updates
The first thing you should do is check your Steam Deck for updates, especially its graphics driver. Then check if Elden Ring itself has any pending updates. Usually, updating your system or the game itself to their latest versions can fix issues like multiplayer not working properly.
Check if Elden Ring’s Servers are Down
A simple Google search to know if Elden Ring’s servers are currently down should do the trick, because users everywhere will be mad and making noise about it on the Internet, and sooner or later, the developers themselves are bound to announce about servers on downtime, and when they will be back online.
Restarting your Steam Deck
The age-old, simple trick of turning off and turning on your device, in this case, the Steam Deck, can often do wonders to problems which we think are unfixable.
