1. Get into the “groove”!
And by groove, I don’t mean a musical groove! The ninjas come at you in a very rhythmic pattern, and you’ll start to pick up on it the more you play. The ninjas always move one block at a time, and they all move at the same time, meaning that sometimes they will line themselves up for a good consecutive combo. Remember, there are no actual cues from the game; you have to get into the flow yourself. Concentrate!
2. Control your swipes with accuracy!
To punch in a direction, you simply swipe in the direction you desire. This is simple and all, but you must remember that there is a slight recovery time whenever you make a punch, and that split second can make the difference between life and death. Make sure you are accurate and speedy with your swipes!
3. Try swiping in one of the corners to avoid blind spots!
You can swipe anywhere on the screen to punch, but I prefer to do it in one of the corner, which seem to be made specifically for that. If you do full fledged swipes across the screen, your hand will almost always block your vision for a split second. Remember: a split second can make all the difference! Swiping in the corner avoids this problem, and also remember that small quick swipes work. You don’t have to make big, full-screen swipes!
4. Fill the rage bar for a screen-clearing super attack!
Whenever you defeat a ninja, your rage meter at the top of the screen fills up a little bit. It drains constantly though, so you need to defeat as many ninjas as you can. When it’s filled at the way, you automatically unleash your character’s super attack, which clears out the entire screen for a couple of seconds!
5. Score high to unlock additional characters!
There are no statistical difference between the characters, just cosmetic stuff. With that said, they take quite an effort to unlock, as you can either score a certain amount of points in one go, or accumulate enough points in total. Their super attacks are visually different but besides that they all function the same way, so choose whichever one you like the most!
6. Be one with yourself and enter a zen state to perform well!
When it comes down to it, this game is all about concentration and how well you get feel the rhythm of the ninjas and your attacks. Focus all of your concentration, and watch the ninjas carefully and how quick they’re moving! As the game progresses, the ninjas will speed up and slow down, so you always need to be paying attention. Also, your mileage may vary on this, but I find turning off the in-game music helps my concentration. Try it out, and be sure to take breaks if you need to!
