Use smooth movements!

The movement style in Fishy Bits 2 is a little tricky at first. Wherever you first tap is your “origin” point, which is essentially the center of your virtual pad. Try to slide around using precise, smooth movements. Quick movements may cause your fishy to swim around erratically, and this will often make slam right into fish much bigger than you. Easy meal for them! Slow, radial movements will help you steer in the direction you want.

Stick in one direction!

You’ve probably noticed this by now by the time limit you have per growth stage is VERY strict. The longer you stay in one stage, the faster your hunger meter will deplete, so you need to be on the ball to avoid starving to death! Your mileage may vary on this, but we’ve noticed that we’ve had an easier time to finding fish to eat by moving in one direction.

Try not to swim around in circles around the same area to cover ground as much as possible, as more often than not you’ll find yourself without anything to eat. Once you’ve eaten everything possible in the immediate area, pick one direction and start swimming without making too drastic of turns. With some luck, you’ll find fish that are just the right size.

Stay far away from bigger fish!

Don’t even try to cut it close! The hitboxes on some fish, especially the bigger ones, are much bigger than they look. What this essentially means is that sometimes you’ll get eaten even though it looked like you weren’t even touching the offending fish. It’s better to be safe than sorry, so if you can help it stay far away from fish bigger than you. Getting clipped by just a pixel of their body can mean the end for you!

Fill up your tank!

If you’re getting tired of the game at the moment, try to start hatching an egg before you go. The more fish you have in your tank, the faster they’ll generate gold for you over time. Your tank can also be upgraded with coins to increase how much the chest can hold, but you can also spend your hard earned coins on fish upgrades.

Each individual fish can be upgraded with coins. Once they’ve been given enough coins, they’ll level up and gain useful skills, like faster swimming speed, slower health depletion, and increased experience gain. We recommend picking a favorite fish and sticking to them with upgrades. If you try to upgrade every single fish you own, you’re going to need a LOT of coins!
