First English Trailer for Pokémon Legends Arceus Revealed: Trailer Breakdown

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is just around the corner, so Nintendo of America has whipped up another English trailer for us to enjoy. Most of it is stuff we’ve seen in the previous trailers, but there are some new things as well. Here is our breakdown for the first English trailer for Pokémon Legends: Arceus!

The trailer starts off with rapid cuts of different environments and Pokémon, including the new variants that are exclusive to the Hisui region. The first shot is of Jubilife Village, the heart of the Hisui region. This is where you start your journey as a new member of the Galaxy Expedition Team!

The middle part of the trailer features the different landscapes you’ll come across during your time in Hisui, and it showcases how much larger and open the areas are in this game compared to past Pokémon games. There are lush forests, breezy lakes, and cold mountain tops, all waiting to be explored.

The trailer also shows off perhaps one of the biggest changes to the Pokémon formula, and that is the flow of wild Pokémon battles. Battle transitions are no longer a thing—wild Pokémon roam free throughout Hisui, and they will attack you on sight in real-time! For the first time ever in Pokémon history, you as a Trainer can be hurt by wild Pokémon, so you’ll need to stay on your toes and make sure to evade at the right moments. It’s only when you fight back with your own tamed Pokémon that you’ll have the traditional turn-based Pokémon battle.

Of course, you’re not alone in your journey! You’ll be able to catch wild Pokémon, but you’ll have to be stealthy and sneak up on them. You can use your caught Pokémon to battle wild Pokémon, collect resources to craft new items, or even get around the Hisui region faster thanks to specialized travel gear on your Pokémon.

And of course, to end the trailer, we’ve got an epic shot of Arceus, the creator of the Pokémon world. Arceus will play a pivotal role in the game’s story, and we can’t wait to see it unfold. You can check out the full trailer here.
