Another classic role playing game is going to be released later today on the App Store. Calling this game a classic is almost an understatement, since it’s the game that practically created the JRPG genre many years ago.

We are talking about Dragon Quest, the first entry of the series created by Yuuji Hori and Enix. The game has landed a few hours ago on the New Zealand App Store, meaning that it will be released later today in the rest of the world.

The iOS version of Dragon Quest is an updated version of the original, featuring the same core mechanics as well as some new features and enhancements, optimizations and more.

Dragon Quest is a really basic role playing game where players will have to travel all over the world to battle monsters, rescue damsels in distress and more. The game’s mechanics are really basic, with players controlling a single character and fighting one monster at a time. The original release also required a lot of grinding, which actually made up most of the play time, so let’s hope the iOS version fixes this issue.

Dragon Quest will be released later today on the App Store in all regions. The game will cost $2.99
