Double Fine’s cute and simple Halloween-themed RPG Costume Quest, which was originally conceived during the developer’s Amnesia Fortnight event, is now available on iOS devices just in time for the holiday around which it is based.
Costume Quest features colorful and cute visuals along with gameplay that revolves around a group of kids who venture from house to house trick-or-treating who must also battle various monsters along the way. You can dress up the young protagonists in a variety of different costumes, each of which grants a special bonus or attack during combat. The iOS version, which is available on both iPhones and iPads, has been optimized with touch-based controls, making the game’s already easy pick-up-and-play formula even easier, and now portable too.
Double Fine, the developer behind other quirky yet charming games like Brutal Legend and Psychonauts, came up with the idea behind Costume Quest during their Amnesia Fortnight event in which various members of the staff put down whatever they’re working on, form up into teams, and race to come up with fun new games and game concepts. Costume Quest was by far one of the most popular concepts born out of the Amnesia Fortnight event and its iOS release couldn’t be more convenient since Halloween is right around the corner.
Costume Quest is available now on iOS devices for $4.99. For that price, you get both the base game as well as the Grubbins on Ice DLC pack.
