Does Weird West Work with Steam Deck

Weird West is a new release for Steam, and gamers everywhere are generating tons of hype for this offbeat wild west gaming experience. Surely this means that the game is available for the Steam Deck as well, right? Well, yes, but not in the way you’re thinking.

Does Weird West Work with Steam Deck?

Every game released on Steam does not get the stamp of approval to be accepted into the Steam Deck’s library, at least on launch. These games would need to wait a while until they get verified for Steam Deck, or never come onto the console at all.

One game that completely defied these customs, like a few other games, is Weird West. The game is fully playable on Steam Deck without receiving verification from the big daddy Valve. This, however, comes with its own drawbacks.

The compatibility notes, found in the Steam Deck verified games list, speaks about how players will need to manually configure graphics setting, how the game will show non-Steam Deck or keyboard and mouse controller icons, while also requiring players to manually switch over to Bluetooth controllers through the Quick Access Menu.

These, however, are the only things holding back the experience of playing an unverified game like Weird West from being a standard Steam Deck gaming experience, and it honestly is not a big deal whatsoever. Sure, the game may not be absolutely pristine in its console experience, but it certainly is far from unplayable too!
