Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest installment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.
The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles, as was the staple of the series thus far.
Two of the new features added were that of Mass Outbreaks and Space-Time Distortion Rift Fields. The topics have been extensively covered throughout various guides here, but do these features really affect each other?
Mass Outbreaks and Space-Time Rifts
As the player progresses through the game, they will learn about Mass Outbreaks happening at random spots on the overworld. Mass Outbreaks are basically swarms of certain species of Pokémon gathering or spawning at a certain spot. Each area can have one Mass Outbreak happening at any point of time.
Meanwhile, Space-Time Distortion Rift Fields show up as massive purple spheres on the overworld. They start to appear after the player first beats Kleavor and spawn randomly after that. They last anywhere between 10 to 15 minutes and spawn rare items along with rare Pokémon!
Both of these events are separate, but do they influence each other?
Do they affect each other’s spawns?
As far as we know, there have been several players that have reported that these events can happen simultaneously.
A recent example would be this comment exchange between Reddit users u/FortunaDraken and u/Aarux claiming they have also reported having these events occurring at the same time!
We believe it is possible for the same thing to happen to any player, even though the occurrences are completely random.
