1. Explore all the red exclamation marks!

When you go out to explore an area, the fog of war will shroud everything in darkness. Points of interest are marked by a red exclamation mark; they can be either enemies or loot. To reveal what they are, you must approach them with your squad. If you’re lucky, it’ll be treasure! If they’re zombies, take them down! You should try to eliminate as many zombies as you can for more experience. You pretty much need to anyways because the next group of exclamation marks won’t spawn until you clear out the previous ones.

2. Regroup when necessary!

At any time during a mission you can tap the Go Back button at the top left. This will bring you back to the base camp menu, where you can train new soldiers and heal up any surviving ones. Don’t rush into battle head first as it’s reckless and complete unnecessary. Whenever you are prepared, you can jump right back into the area and you’ll pick up right where you left off, so there is no need to play conservatively! Pull back and regroup when you need to. Don’t take a hard fight on if you’re low on troops! Just be warned though – if you start a new area you will lose your progress.

3. Attack resource tiles!

Are your production buildings not cutting it? Need some extra resources? Resource tiles can be found on the world map and require you to send a squad out in order to gather the resources. You don’t have to actually maneuver around a map like you do for the chapter missions, you just need to wait. If you’re waiting on a building to finish why not send a squad out to get some more resources?

4. Collect the secret bonus!

The silver box with the red star on the left side of the main menu are secret bonuses! Tap it to collect a random resource, such as food or gold. The cooldown on it varies depending on how big of a gift you got, but it’s usually relatively short; sometimes under an hour. Try to collect this is as much as you can because it’s free resources and you might get something really good!

5. Join a League!

This is one of those open player versus player games, meaning that your city can get attacked by random players. Join a league as soon as you can! Leagues are groups of players that work together to complete their cities. If you get attacked by someone, the league will be notified and you can call for help or revenge. Be sure to do the same for your league members as well. Help and be helped!

6. Follow the quests!

Above all, you should have a pretty solid city if you just follow the quests. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see a “Tip” followed by a request. These are main quests and by doing these you will have a good city and army. These quests will take you through the basic steps and the advanced steps, so finishing them gives you a great advantage. You also get experience and gold too!

And with that, your city should be good to go against the oncoming zombie horde. If you have any other tips or tricks to share, please leave a comment below!
