Master the art of blocking!

You won’t need to do it at first, but blocking will be difference between life and death during intense boss fights, and sometimes even regular enemies! Tapping the left screen will make your hero block briefly – you cannot hold it down, so good timing is required to make the most out of it.

Blocking is very important because it COMPLETELY nullifies any damage you would’ve taken, not just reduce. You will notice very quickly when you come across bosses for the first time that they hit you extremely hard, so blocking is required to survive through these fights.

Think about your Skills!

Skills are passive talents that enhance your hero in various ways. You’ll learn the base level of each talent once your hero’s level is high enough, but you can also spend skill points to further improve them. You get skill points every time you level up, and investing a point into a skill is semi-permanent.

That is to say, you have the option to respec your hero and refund all of your skill points. However, this costs gold – the more points you’ve put in, the more expensive it’ll be. So, while you shouldn’t overthink it as the majority of skills are helpful, you should give a little thought to which skills you want to prioritize.

Interact with the environment!

Keep your eyes open as you might pass by things that you can interact with in the levels. Near the end of Rolling Hills, you can find trapped animals in cages. If you can attack the cages fast enough, they’ll break and the animals will be freed. You’ll get a good reward if you manage to do this.

Another example are the pillars in the Goblin Fortress. Certain pillars are cracked, and if you attack them enough they’ll crumble. If you can bring down enough pillars, you’ll open an alternate path with more goodies than the regular path. Pay attention to the environment and you might find something good!

Upgrade magical equipment!

Leveling up regular equipment is fine if you need extra damage or defense, but it’s usually not worth it to invest too much gold into one piece of equipment. However, if you manage to find a magical rarity piece of equipment (indicated by a star), those are good to upgrade a lot. Magical equipment, in addition to boosted stats, have special properties on them that power up your hero in some fashion.

Level up Patch for emergencies!

One of the first active skills you will learn is “Patch”. Patch is a quick heal that costs 20 AP. When the going gets tough, Patch can really save you in a bind, so be sure to level it up. The higher level it is, the more HP it restores.
